Cara Chillari

caraCara is a registered psychologist working in the field of mental health for over 5 years. Using a warm and empathic approach, Cara has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults with a diverse range of mental health issues, and from a range of socio and cultural backgrounds, supporting them to develop strategies to manage their emotional issues.

Cara’s work experience extends to a variety of settings including schools, community mental health services and private practice. Her experience involves both assessment and intervention. She has facilitated individualized programs and treatment for clients and their families and has also facilitated and created groups based on evidence based practice. Cara is passionate about catering evidence based practice and psychological interventions, and working within a multidisciplinary and collaborative framework.

Specifically, Cara utilises Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) for creating custom in depth interventions and lifestyle management (exercise, diet, sleep, alcohol and other drugs).

Cara has experience working with anxiety, depression, at risk behaviours, self harm, family conflict, mood disorders, academic and exam performance, bullying, assertiveness training, self-esteem and confidence, interpersonal relationships, anger management and stress management. Cara specialises in working with young people, children and their families.
