Susan Bourne

Susan 2Susan is a Clinical Psychologist who has been working in private practice in the Sutherland Shire for over fifteen years. She has extensive experience in the management of a range of psychological problems including anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, adjustment disorders, depression, eating disorders and weight management , chronic pain, illness and coping, grief and loss, alcohol use disorders, general stress management as well as couples therapy. Susan primarily uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). CBT has been shown to be effective in the management of many psychological disorders in numerous research studies. Susan has also been trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and uses Mindfulness techniques. Susan treats adults and older adults. She is a Medicare (Clinical Psychology) provider and a Workcover provider. Prior to working in private practice Susan worked at the Prince of Wales Hospital where she ran group programs for the management of anxiety disorders as well as treating inpatients and outpatients. Susan in the past has had research published in the International Journal of Eating Disorders and the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Public Health.
